Sheldon Cooper Tips To Take Your Confidence To New Heights
If you have ever watched the Big Bang Theory, you know that even geniuses need a little help in the self-esteem department sometimes. Even egotistical, overly-confident ones get knocked down sometimes.
Doubts, fears, and limitations we hold in our own minds are programmed as habits in us from a very early age, and are the most likely the very things that block our success in life. Recognizing your greatest abilities, and having the confidence to master these is what makes each of us a genius, in our own way.
Check out these confidence boosters below, and share with a fellow genius!
1. Push yourself to do things you never thought you could
Sometimes you have to put aside your fears in order to help the ones you care about most. When Sheldon drove Penny to the hospital, he went out of his comfort zone. He doesn’t drive, and he doesn’t easily express emotions for the people in his life. But, he proved that when times get tough, you have to be confident to help the people who matter most.
2. Embrace your personal style
With fashion magazines and celebrities constantly telling you to wear the latest trends, developing your own style can seem so daunting. Ditch the drama and wear whatever you feel best represents you.
Okay, so maybe you don’t need an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to your wardrobe collection, but expressing yourself is a total confidence booster. Besides, it’s not always bad to wear your emotions on your sleeve—at least people will know what they’re getting into!
3. Don’t rely on alcohol to boost your confidence
Public speaking can be scary, but it’s certainly better than getting drunk, taking your pants off, and winding up on YouTube the next day! We all have to live through some embarrassing moments, right? What better way to learn what not to do in the future! Besides, we’re betting you’ll realize just how great you really are after all.
4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help
Whether you’re struggling with making new friends or acing your next exam, worrying can really take a toll on your self-esteem. Admitting you have a few things to work on can be hard, and asking for help can sometimes be petrifying. But trust us, if you follow Sheldon’s lead and ask for a little help, you’ll come out feeling like you can do just about anything.
5. Trust your gut
Sheldon may come across as a little egotistical at times, but that’s just because he believes in himself. Do you think he’d be as successful as he is if he was constantly doubting his work and ideas? No way.
Trust your gut and don’t waste too much energy doubting yourself, but practice a little more humility than Sheldon. You’ll have better luck making friends if you do.
6. Believe you’ve got superpowers, even if you don’t
The world needs more heroes — why not you? You’ll never be able to fly or transform into an animal, but you can still be someone’s hero. Take Sheldon for example. He’s too afraid of germs to even consider stopping a burglar from snatching Amy’s purse, but he’s inspiring in his own ways. Anyone who inspires kids to love science is a hero to us!
